Aamir Khan recently got married to Gauri Spratt at a quiet, intimate ceremony attended only by family and close friends. However, the event has surprisingly evoked strong reactions from many, including some political figures. A few days ago, a member of Bajrang Dal in Bihar had burned effigies of the actor, alleging him of hurting Hindu sentiments. Now BJP minister Nitish Rane has commented on the same.
On Sunday, Rane urged members of the Hindu community to think carefully before supporting celebrities like Aamir Khan, whom he condemned for marrying a third time. Rane said, “When well-known celebrities make such decisions in their personal lives, Hindu society should think about it. I wonder if Aamir Khan is becoming the 'brand ambassador' of love jihad? Hindu youth who watch his films should think carefully before making such actors big figures."
Rane, who is a legislator with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), also additionally suggested whether the Taare Zameen Par actor’s third marriage should be seen as an act of ‘Love Jihad.’ Aamir Khan has not responded to Nitesh Rane’s comments yet.
On July 5, Aamir married Gauri at his Pali Hill residence in Bandra, Mumbai. Aamir was previously married to Reena Dutta (1986-2002) and Laapataa Ladies director Kiran Rao (2005-2021).
On the professional front, Aamir Khan’s next production Batwara 1947, starring Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta and Ali Fazal, is set for a theatrical release on August 14. The film will clash against Emraan Hashmi starrer Awarapan 2.
Two days ago, the actor-filmmaker also officially came on board for Silkyara 41, a feature film inspired by the 2023 rescue of 41 workers trapped inside the Silkyara tunnel in Uttarakhand. The movie will be directed by Kabir Khan.
