A new controversy regarding Honey Trehan’s Satluj seems to be erupting everyday. Now, the film’s IMDb page doesn’t seem to show its rating. Just a day before, the film had a user rating of 9.5 on the platform.
Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta also took to X to comment on the development. He shared a picture of the film’s IMDb page and wrote, “RATED 9.5 TILL YESTERDAY. GONE TODAY. Not that I ever trusted or believed in IMDB ratings. But this proves how bogus they are.”
As per a report in Hindustan Times, the film’s writer Niren Bhatt said he has no idea how it happened. “When was the film coming, when it went away, I didn’t know. Now about these IMDb ratings…who has a problem, what is the problem, there was no communication,” he said.
Satluj, which was earlier titled Punjab '95, is a film directed by Honey Trehan and stars Diljit Dosanjh, along with Arjun Rampal and Suvinder Vicky. It is a film based on the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra who shed light on Punjab police's extra-judicial killing of about 25,000 people at the time of insurgency in the state.
The film has had a tussle with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for over three years with the latter demanding over 120 cuts in the film. On July 3 evening, however, the film quietly landed on ZEE5 and received favourable reviews from both critics and audiences. It was then dropped from the platform by July 5 evening. Making the announcement, ZEE5 wrote in an Instagram post, “In light of the current developments, Satluj will be unavailable in India until further notice. We remain committed to exploring every appropriate avenue through due process to bring the film back to our audiences at the earliest opportunity.”
