‘Babbar Sherni’, the first song from Rani Mukerji’s upcoming film Mardaani 3, was unveiled by the makers on Tuesday. In the film, Rani returns as the fierce, daredevil cop Shivani Shivaji Roy taking a brutal social crime in the third film of the franchise.

The lyrical music video opens with scenes from Mardaani (2014) and Mardaani 2 (2019). Going forward we get glimpses of Rani from the third part of the film as she tries to dismantle a child trafficking network headed by Amma (Mallika Prasad). The song is sung in praise of Rani’s Shivani and is a fast-paced and groovy rap-number. It is composed, produced and arranged by Sarthak Kalyani, written by Shruti Shukla, and also features a rap segment by Dee MC.

Speaking about the song, Rani said, "Babbar Sherni is a powerful sonic embodiment of the film’s soul. It captures the indomitable spirit of Mardaani itself and salutes women as Babbar shernis of our society. Raw, resolute and unflinching, mirroring the personality of Shivani Shivaji Roy, Babbar Sherni is a tribute to a woman’s strength and resolve to bring about change in society.”

Mardaani 3 has been directed by Abhiraj Minawala and produced by Aditya Chopra. The film will release in theatres worldwide on January 30.
