Mardaani 3 trailer: Rani Mukerji’s daredevil cop has to untangle a sinister human trafficking web

The trailer of Rani Mukerji’s upcoming crime-drama Mardaani 3 was unveiled by the makers on Monday. Directed by Abhiraj Minawala and written by Aayush Gupta (he also wrote the series The Railway Men, 2023), the film has been produced by Aditya Chopra’s Yash Raj Films.

The trailer shows Rani’s return as the daredevil cop Shivani Shivaji Roy. This time she is dealing with a nationwide network of human trafficking and is in a race against time to rescue scores of missing girls. In the process, Shivani will face-off against an evil trafficking queenpin, known as Amma (Mallika Prasad). The storyline has similarities with the recently released season 3 of Delhi Crime, which also had cops trying to dismantle a human trafficking nexus. Vash (2023) and Shaitaan (2024) fame Janaki Bodiwala is also part of Mardaani 3.

The first part of Mardaani came in 2014 and was set in the background of human trafficking and prostitution. The film put Tahir Raj Bhasin on the map, as he played a formidable villain. Mardaani 2 came out in 2019 and had Vishal Jethwa playing a psychopathic rapist who Rani’s Shivani Shivaji Roy has to catch.

Mardaani 3 is scheduled to release in theatres on January 30.
