Javed Akhtar is an atheist, and this is something which the legendary screenwriter has openly revealed multiple times. He also expresses strong views on religion, caste and politics, among other topics, on social media. The other day, Javed took to X to draw people's attention to a fake video showing him with an Islamic cap and claiming that the screenwriter has converted himself into a Muslim. "Javed Akhtar has agreed on the existence of Allah," a man can be heard saying in the fake video. Javed not only posted a link to the video on his X timeline but also came out strongly against it.

"A fake video is in circulation showing my fake computer generated picture with a topi on my head claiming that ultimately I have turned to God. It is rubbish," the screenwriter wrote on the social media platform. Javed also shared that he is thinking about reporting the issue to cyber police with the intention of dragging "the person responsible for this fake news and those few who forward it to the court for damaging my reputation and credibility".

Javed Akhtar's views comes hot on the heels of his criticism of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar removing a Muslim doctor's veil in the course of a government function. While admitting that he does not believe in Parda as a conventional concept itself, Javed condemned Nitish's act. "I condemn it in very strong words. Mr Nitish Kumar owes an unconditional apology to the lady," the screenwriter said at the time.
