Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali celebrated his 63rd birthday on Tuesday (February 24) and what should have been a day of celebration turned into a wave of concern after rumours started circulating on social media that the Heeramandi director has been hospitalised after a heart attack.

Many news reports also surfaced stating that Bhansali had suffered a cardiac episode on the night of his birthday and was rushed to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai. However, the director’s team issued a statement informing that the reports were baseless. "Reports about SLB being hospitalised are completely false and baseless. There is no truth to them. We request you to kindly refrain from carrying any such stories, as they have no verified source,” read the statement from Bhansali’s PR team.

Later, via the Bhansali Production Instagram page, the filmmaker’s family also issued a statement which read, “Mr. Sanjay Leela Bhansali is doing absolutely fine. He has gone in for a routine medical check-up and there is no cause for concern. We sincerely appreciate the love, care, and concern shown by everyone. Thank you for your continued support and warm wishes.”

As per reports, Bhansali was busy shooting for his upcoming film Love & War on his birthday. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal in lead roles.
