O’ Romeo, the latest Shahid Kapoor-Triptii Dimri starrer romantic actioner, took a slow start at the box office. Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, the film also features Nana Patekar, Avinash Tiwary and Tamannaah in primary cast among others.

As per a report by industry tracker Sacnilk, the Shahid-Triptii starrer collected Rs8.5 crore (nett) on its opening day at domestic box office. On Saturday, the film hasn’t shown any signs of registering any major hike in its day 2 collections either, collecting Rs 4.4 crore (nett) as of on 5pm.

Reportedly made on a budget of Rs 130 crore, O’ Romeo will likely have a tough journey ahead at the box office.

However, this is also the highest opening Shahid Kapoor starrer since Kabir Singh (2019). His previous theatrical release Devaa (2025) opened at Rs 5.5 crore nett, while Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya (2024) garnered Rs 6.75 crore on day 1.

In our review for the film, we noted, “O Romeo suffers from a splintered storyline which is having an existential crisis of its own. It doesn’t know whether it wants to be a mass-actioner, a doomed romance or a crime-drama.”

Ahead of its release, O’ Romeo also found itself mired in controversy after Hussain Ustara’s daughter Sanober Sheikh issued a notice to the makers, taking objection to the portrayal of her father, deeming it ‘unfavourable.’ Shahid Kapoor played that part in the film, which is allegedly inspired from Hussain Ustara, who was a rumoured rival of Dawood Ibrahim.
