Director Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar continues to be a hot topic of discussion amidst its digital premiere, which came months after its theatrical release. While netizens have been furious about the trimmed runtime of the film on Netflix, it also continues to get positive appreciation from cinema lovers and film fraternity members.

The latest to share his thoughts about the film, starring Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, and Arjun Rampal, among others, is director Shekhar Kapur. The filmmaker took to X and wrote, "Finally saw Dhurandhar on Netflix. Terrific storytelling and very high level of performances even from minor roles. Director Aditya Dhar deserves all the praise he’s getting." The filmmaker also congratulated the spy thriller's producer Jyoti Deshpande and said that he is looking forward to watching the film's second part.

Even as it has had its digital premiere, the film continues to run in select theatres, including multiplexes. Recently, according to data from industry tracker Sacnilk, it became the first Indian film to gross over 1000 crore from theatres across the country through release in one language. At the global box office, meanwhile, it has minted over 1300 crore. Sacnilk calls it an "all time blockbuster" in its verdict.

The filmmaker also said that he did not find the film heavily censored by Netflix, unlike what netizens have been claiming after its release on the streaming platform. "It did not feel censored except for swear words .. but it was obvious what the characters were saying," Shekhar wrote in reply to a user, asking why he did not watch the film at a theatre. Replying to another user, questioning his decision to watch the film on OTT, Shekhar said that he could not watch the film at a theatre because it did not release in Dubai. However, the filmmaker told another user that he would watch the sequel to the film if it releases at his place.
