A few days ahead of Mirzapur: The Movie’s massive theatrical release, the official runtime and censor certification rating of the film have been revealed. The film, which was always billed as a violent action-thriller, has received an A-rating certificate from the censor board.
Meanwhile, according to some reports, Mirzapur: The Movie has a duration of 3 hours 17 minutes, which makes it the 3nd longest mainstream Hindi film of the year after Dhurandhar 2 and Border 2.
Earlier in an official statement, the film’s director Gurmmeet Singh had stated his intentions to go for a A-rating certificate at the outset. “We're targeting an Adults Only certification straight away. Then, of course, the CBFC has its own guidelines regarding language, what we can say, and what we can't. We've tried to manage that and strike the right balance. I also think audiences have matured. If you look at films like Animal, Dhurandhar, and several other recent releases, you can see that adult storytelling is now finding space in theatres,” he had said.
Besides featuring Pankaj Tripathi, Divyenndu, and Ali Fazal in the lead roles, Mirzapur: The Movie has Jitendra Kumar, Abhishek Banerjee, Rasika Dugal, Mohitt Maalik, Sheeba Chadha, Rajesh Tailang, Pramod Pathak, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Harshita Shekhar Gaur, Shweta Tripathi, and Sonal S Chauhan. The film’s story will continue from where season 1 ended. During a recent promotional event, Ali Fazal said, “Everyone must go home and watch Series 1, but only till episode 6. From episode 6, the story of the movie starts and revolves."
The official trailer of the film, which was released 3 weeks ago, introduced Jitendra Kumar and Ravi Kishan in the universe. The actioner is presented by Amazon MGM Studios and Excel Entertainment.
Written by Puneet Krishna, and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under Excel Entertainment and co-produced by Kassim Jagmagia and Vishal Ramchandani, Mirzapur: The Movie will also release in Telugu.
