The official trailer of Mirzapur: The Movie was unveiled at a grand event held in Mumbai on Tuesday afternoon. The movie spin-off of the much-loved crime-drama series is set to arrive in theatres on September 4.
By the looks of it, Mirzapur: The Movie will continue from the world of Season 1, bringing back some of the franchise’s most beloved and iconic characters, including Kaleen Bhaiya, Munna Bhaiya and Guddu Pandit. At the centre of the new chapter is the race for the Gaddi, with new contendors entering the story and challenging the established power dynamics. As the battle gets bigger, the world of Mirzapur expands beyond Purvanchal, taking audiences into the deserts and a more expansive cinematic landscape.
Besides hosting many familiar faces, Mirzapur: The Movie also introduces new characters to the world of Mirzapur, further strengthening the connection between the beloved franchise and its big-screen chapter. The trailer also ends with an iconic line by Kaleen bhaiyya (Pankaj Tripathi), who owns Munna Bhaiyyq (Divyenndu) and all his idiosyncrasies with great swagger, instantly transporting fans back into the world they know, with the franchise’s signature intensity and dark humour.
Promises to be bigger, grander and with higher stakes, Mirzapur: The Movie boasts a mammoth ensemble cast with actors like Ali Fazal, Abhishek Banerjee, Rasika Dugal, Mohitt Maalik, Sheeba Chadha, Rajesh Tailang, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Harshita Shekhar Gaur, Shweta Tripathi, Sonal S. Chauhan, Anangsha Biswas, Kulbhushan Kharbanda and Sushant Singh on board. New entrants to the Mirzapur universe include Jitendra Kumar and Ravi Kishan.
Presented by Amazon MGM Studios and Excel Entertainment, Mirzapur: The Movie is directed by Gurmmeet Singh, written by Puneet Krishna, and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under the banner of Excel Entertainment. The film is co-produced by Kassim Jagmagia and Vishal Ramchandani.
Besides Hindi, Mirzapur: The Movie will also release in Telugu.
