Around an year ago, we had reported about Kartik Aaryan signing a film project with Shimit Amin. The film, reportedly titled Captain India, went on floors earlier this year. Now reports are coming in that Parvathy Thivuvothu has been cast in the film.
According to Bollywood Hungama, Parvathy has been signed for a prominent role in the film that’s inspired by a true story. Captain India is produced by Harman Baweja's Baweja Studios and Bhushan Kumar's T-Series. Harman has also written script for the film that is reportedly inspired by one of India's successful rescue missions from a war-torn country. The film, which has Kartik playing an air force pilot, also features Manish Chaudhary in the ensemble cast.
Parvathy, who has been active for nearly 2 decades in Indian cinema, made her Hindi debut with the 2017 film Qarib Qarib Single. Parvathy has since worked in other Hindi features like Kadak Singh (2024) and Tu Yaa Main. She is also part of Storm, the upcoming OTT series which marks Hrithik Roshan’s OTT production debut.
The shoot began earlier year, with long scheduled being held in India and Morocco. Reportedly, the makers are planning to wrap up the shoot by next month. A release window for the film is yet to be shared by the makers. This marks Shimit Aman’s return to direction after 17 years — he hasn’t directed a film since Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year (2009).
Kartik was last seen in the rom-com Tu Meri Main tera, Main Tera Tu Meri. His upcoming projects include movies like Anurag Basu, where he is paired with Sreeleela, a sports-drama with Kabir Khan, and Naagzilla.
