Several celebrities took to social media to wish everyone a happy Independence Day on Saturday. Among the large number of posts on the special occasion, Priyanka Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan's thoughts grabbed netizens' attention. Priyanka revealed her perspective about where India is as a country right now, whereas Shah Rukh shared what it feels to be an Indian for him.

Taking to X, Shah Rukh Khan wrote, "A very Happy Independence Day to all.. There’s something special about being Indian...the colours, the contrasts, the beautiful differences, the spirit and above all, the feeling of belonging to something much bigger than ourselves...our Country. May we always value what we have and do our little bit to make our country proud. Proud to be an Indian and love being one. Jai Hind!"

Shah Rukh Khan's post on Independence Day comes at the sort of time when politicians often question his nationalism. It came under scrutiny as recently as in January 2026, when a BJP representative criticised the superstar for his team Kolkata Knight Riders' decision to sign cricketer Mustafizur Rahman for this year's IPL amidst geopolitical tensions between India and Bangladesh.

Amidst the political tensions and pressure from the BCCI, Shah Rukh's team had to release the Bangladeshi cricketer and stop his participation from the IPL.

On the other hand, Priyanka Chopra took to her Instagram Stories space, shared a hoisted Indian flag and wrote, "Proud of where we've come from. Hopeful about where we're headed."

Political commentators often associate Priyanka with the ruling government because of her public interactions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and her nationalistic stances, even as she has not officially declared herself a supporter of any particular party.
