Former Australian cricketer Brett Lee has a close connection with Hindi cinema. Lee sang a track titled 'You're the One for Me' with the legendary Asha Bhosle. When Asha Bhosle passed away earlier this year, Lee paid her a heartfelt tribute, where he wrote, "What stayed with me most wasn't just her extraordinary talent, but how kind and humble she was. For someone who had achieved so much in her life, she carried herself with such warmth and generosity."
Lee has now paid a similar compliment to Shah Rukh Khan. In a recent interview with Gulft News, the fast bowler said that Shah Rukh "used to be a wicket keeper" and that he "loved his cricket". The cricketer also spoke about how SRK came from a non-film background and became a massively popular actor. "He came from nothing and has gone on now to not be the biggest actor in Bollywood but in the world," Lee said about Shah Rukh Khan.
The cricketer also highlighted Shah Rukh's qualities that make him stand out as a human being. "You would assume that someone that's achieved greatness would have an ego, would be short in patience, wouldn't really give the fans what they want. No way. Not Shah Rukh Khan. He is an absolute gentleman. I've only got great things to say about him," Lee said.
The Australian fast bowling spearhead revealed that Shah Rukh is his friend as well. "We have a bit of a friendship. I'm very lucky to call him my friend," Lee said. He also reflected on his time with Shah Rukh's IPL franchise, Kolkata Knight Riders. "He would always come in and would say his little speech before the game, which would go something like, 'Okay, boys. You've trained hard. You're looking good. You're feeling good. We go out. Inshallah tonight we win."
Lee said that the actor, nicknamed the King of Bollywood, did not put pressure on his players or threatened to drop them for losses, and that he built a "nice, relaxed, calm, and controlled" environment within the KKR camp.
