Director Nitesh Tiwari is gearing up for the release of his upcoming Ramayana adaptation, starring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Raavan. Interestingly, the film is set to have its international premiere two days before its India release. In a recent interview with NDTV, Ramayana producer Namit Malhotra explained the decision.

"It will hit theatres in India on Diwali," Namit said before confirming November 08 as the release date. The producer added, explaining the difference in its India release, "The international distribution works from a Friday standpoint, and that falls on the sixth of November. But in India, currently, we are targeting a Diwali release."

As reported earlier, Ramayana is set to have the biggest worldwide release for a film made in India, with the makers eyeing more than 50,000 screens. Reports also indicate that the makers plan paid previews for the film on November 05, a day ahead of its official release outside of India.

A section of the audience has expressed some disappointment about the delayed release of the film in India, at the same time as they continue to remain eager about the epic cinematic adaptation. Speaking of which, the recently released trailer has already garnered more than one billion views, according to ANI. Calling it "a great moment for India" in a conversation with ANI, Namit expressed his appreciation for the audience for all the love and affection for the trailer.

Ramayana is designed as a multi-part project, with the second part being set to release in Diwali next year. The film is produced by Namit under Prime Focus Studios, which is associated with the Oscar-winning visual effects company DNEG, and has Yash doubling up as a co-producer through his Monster Mind Creations banner.
