Huma Qureshi-starrer Bayaan, which has been screened at many film festivals across the world, will soon head to Melbourne for its Australian premiere at the 2026 Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM). On the occasion, Huma Qureshi spoke about the film, sharing her excitement about the IFFM premiere. 

In an official statement, Huma said, “Bayaan is one of the most challenging and emotionally rewarding films I've had the opportunity to be a part of. Roohi is a woman who stands her ground in the face of immense pressure, and portraying her journey pushed me as an actor in many ways. What drew me to the film was not just the gripping investigation, but the questions it raises about power, truth and justice.”

Billed as a police procedural drama, Bayaan featurss Huma as Roohi, a determined police officer investigating her first major case involving a powerful cult leader accused of sexual abuse. As the investigation unfolds, she finds herself navigating institutional resistance, reluctant witnesses and the complexities of pursuing justice.

Talking about the film's IFFM premiere, Huma added, "I'm incredibly proud that Bayaan will be screened at IFFM. I hope audiences connect with the film, engage with its conversations, and leave the theatre with something to reflect on long after the credits roll."

Written and directed by Bikas Ranjan Mishra, Bayaan also features Sachin Khedekar and Chandrachur Singh in the supporting cast.

Bayaan had its world premiere at Toronto International Film Festival last year. It was later showcased in the 'A Window on Asian Cinema' section of the 30th Busan International Film Festival. Earlier this year, the film also had screenings at the Red Lorry Film Festival. 

Huma Qureshi was recently seen in the noir-thriller Baby Do Die Do. The actor also recently began filming for season 5 of her popular series Maharani.
