Matka King, the Vijay Varma starrer OTT series which began streaming on April 17, has been receiving plenty of love and support from industry members. The latest to champion the Nagraj Manjule directorial are Karan Johar and Aamir Khan.
On Monday evening, Karan Johar shared on his Instagram page that he watched the entire show at one go, adding, “The perfect binge! You can’t miss this.” as his brief review for the show. Meanwhile, Aamir Khan penned a brief but heartfelt note, extending his wishes to the Matka King team. While he admitted that he hasn’t watched the show, he added, “Ratan Khatri is a character I’d have loved to play. I am sure Vijay must have killed it. Hearing only great things about it. Will be watching it after Ek Din’s release.”
A few days ago, Vicky Kaushal had shared that Matka King is next on his watchlist, adding that Nagraj Manjule is one of his favourite directors.
Created and written by Abhay Koranne and Nagraj Popatrao Manjule, Matka King is set in 1960s Bombay, tracing the rise of Brij Bhatti, a cotton trader who turns a simple idea into a citywide phenomenon. The show additionally features Kritika Kamra, Sai Tamhankar, Siddharth Jadhav, Bhupendra Jadawat, and Gulshan Grover in lead roles, along with Vineet Kumar Singh, Bharat Jadhav, Girish Kulkarni, Jamie Lever, Kishor Kadam, Cyrus Sahukar, Arpita Sethia, Sambhaji Tangade, Ishtiyak Khan, Sanjivv Jotangia, and Simran Ashwini in pivotal roles.
