Asha Bhosle passes away at 92: Chinmayi, Karan Johar, Maharashtra CM and more honour late singer

There is an outpouring of sentiment from across industries in India for the late singer

Tributes are pouring in from across industries for legendary singer Asha Bhosle, who breathed her last on Sunday. Everyone from film personalities to politicians to actors and cricket commentators paid their tributes to the legendary singer.

Singer Chinmayi Sripaada shared a picture of Asha Bhosle on X and wrote, "Can anything I say ever be good enough to describe her greatness? Is there anything at all that she couldn’t do? The true trailblazer - showed us all how it is done."

On the other hand, filmmaker Karan Johar took to Instagram, shared a picture of the iconic singer and wrote, "To say we have lost a legend today would be an understatement. Asha ji was unlike any other, a voice that defined not only one generation but across a span of cinematic universe! I was and have been the massive fan of her voice, her art, her personality…Asha ji, your music will live on forever and we are blessed to experience the magic you have left behind forever! Rest in peace and power."

Asha Bhosle is known for her songs not just in Hindi but across languages, including Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada.

Expressing his deep sadness for the singer's passing, Jr NTR wrote, "Her magical voice was the heartbeat of Indian cinema for decades and touched millions of hearts. She leaves behind a legacy that will live on for generations and will always be remembered with respect and love. My deepest condolences to her family. Om Shanti."

On the other hand, filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar told ANI, "I am deeply saddened that Asha Tai, a singer who was so renowned worldwide and sang so many songs, is no longer with us. She inspired so many generations over the years. As a filmmaker, I had the opportunity to work with her. She sang many songs in the films...She will be missed."

From the world of politics, PM Narendra Modi wrote, "Deeply saddened by the passing of Asha Bhosle Ji, one of the most iconic and versatile voices India has ever known. Her extraordinary musical journey, spanning decades, enriched our cultural heritage and touched countless hearts across the world. Be it her soulful melodies or vibrant compositions, her voice carried timeless brilliance. I’ll always cherish the interactions I’ve had with her. My condolences to her family, admirers and music lovers. She will continue to inspire generations and her songs will forever echo in people’s lives."

Meanwhile, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee shared, "Profoundly saddened by the demise of the great musical genius Asha Bhosle. She has been an inspiring and mesmerising singer who reigned over our hearts for generations. She sang many Bengali songs too, and is incredibly popular in Bengal also. We could confer our highest civilian award 'Bangabibhushan' on her in 2018. My heartfelt condolences to her family and fraternity and millions of her fans all over the world."

In the meantime, Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, where Asha Bhosle hailed from, wrote, "The news of the passing of veteran singer Ashatai Bhosle, Padma Vibhushan and Maharashtra Bhushan awardee, who had celebrated her 90th birthday with great fanfare just three years ago, is extremely heartbreaking. With her demise, another star has fallen from the Mangeshkar lineage after Lata Didi. The beautiful garden of melodies has turned barren today."
