The world of entertainment is in a state of shock with news coming in about the passing of legendary singer Asha Bhosle. She experienced chest infection recently and passed away earlier this Sunday at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai.

While Asha is primarily known for her work in Hindi cinema, she also lent her voice to songs in films in other languages, including Tamil. Her credits in Tamil include 'Poongatru Thirumbuma' from the Sivaji Ganesan starrer Muthal Mariyathai. Speaking of Sivaji, the actor shared a close, familial relationship with the legendary singer.

In an old Super Singer episode, Asha Bhosle reflected on her friendship and camaraderie with Sivaji.

"You may call Sivaji Ganesan Anna my friend or brother. I used to go to his home quite a lot; he would talk to me in English and I would speak to him in Hindi," Asha said.

The legendary singer also shared that she used to talk to Sivaji night long, with him occasionally teasing her in Tamil and making fun of her lack of knowledge of the language. She said, "I once told him that I would sing my first song in Tamil to him. He replied, saying, "Kya re tum, Asha! Tum kya Tamil gaayega? Kuch nahi aata tumko (What are you saying, Asha! How can you sing in Tamil? You do not know anything)."

However, Asha also revealed that she sang it to Sivaji and that he enjoyed the song. However, he immediately made fun of the singer again, saying, "You do not know Tamil."

The banter exemplified the kind of brother-sister-like camaraderie that Asha Bhosle and Sivaji Ganesan shared with each other.
