Following the release of the much-discussed Ramayana teaser, showing Ranbir Kapoor as the titular God, excerpts from the actor's recent interview with Collider have surfaced online. In the interview, Ranbir revealed that he has multiple roles in the two-part mythological epic, as Lord Ram and as Parashuram. As reported earlier, the film is directed by Nitesh Tiwari of Dangal fame and also stars Sai Pallavi and Yash as Sita and Ravan, respectively.

The actor also said that production on Ramayana: Part Two is partially complete. "We are already halfway down filming Part Two, at least my portions. So it is even more exciting than (what) all of us have seen," he added.

Ranbir Kapoor described the opportunity to portray Lord Ram and as Parashuram as being 'fantastic,' to say the least.

Talking about his process related to distinguishing between the two roles, he explained, "As an actor, apart from body language, I think if you deeply understand the spirituality and emotionality of the characters, I think everything starts from there. That is what I did a year leading to the shoot of Ramayana is to really understand who these characters are, what they stand for, what their motives are. Then, everything just becomes easier."

Ranbir's comments have surfaced online shortly after netizens critically analysed his 'performance' in the film. Many of them do not consider that the actor fits the part. However, it is still too early to say whether he has or has not done justice to the role.

Besides Ranbir and Nitesh, the biggest draw for the big-budget film is the presence of composers Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman. According to reports, Ramayana is based on a budget of 4000 crore, something which has not been going down well with the film's early detractors. The two films are slated to hit theatres, including IMAX screens, in Diwali 2026 and 2027, respectively.
