Rajkummar Rao starrer Dada: The Sourav Ganguly Story goes on floors

We had earlier reported about Vikramaditya Motwane and Rajkummar Rao reuniting for the official biopic of legendary cricketer and former Indian captain Saurav Ganguly. On Wednesday, the makers officially confirmed the film going on shooting floors. The film is officially titled Dada: The Sourav Ganguly Story

Vikramaditya first shared a somewhat cryptic post, by sharing a monochromatic photo of the Saurav Ganguly stand at Eden Gardens. Later, Rajkummar Rao, shared a few snippets from the muhurat ceremony of the film on his Instagram. "And it begins... the one and only Dada," the actor captioned the post.

Other key details like primary cast members are yet to be revealed. Luv Films is onboard as the producer. Siddharth Diwan, the cinematographer who has worked on notable films like Qala (2022), Trapped (2017) and Queen (2014), is onboard for Dada.  

Vikramaditya and Rajkummar have previously worked together in Trapped (2017), which was received very well by critics. Rajkummar, who was last seen in Maalik, has an OTT film release lined up with Toaster, the Netflix original that also stars Sanya Malhotra will arrive on April 15. Incidentally, the acclaimed actor has another biopic in the pipeline, where he will be seen playing Ujjwal Nikam. 

Sourav Ganguly, whose international career lasted nearly 16 years, continues to be remembered as one of the most formidable captains of Indian cricketing history, paving the path for an aggressive attitude on field, which the Indian team carries till date.
