An X post from the Times of India’s Sports department paved the way for a quirky interaction with actor Abhishek Bachchan thanks to an error in the post. “If Pakistan get Abhishek Bachchan out early on,” read the tweet, describing a part of cricketer Shoaib Akhtar’s plan to dismiss Indian cricket team’s opener Abhishek Sharma. In response to the mix up by Shoaib, actor Abhishek tweeted, “Sir, with all due respect… don’t think they’ll even manage that! And I’m not even good at playing cricket.”

The actor’s sense of humour has been having netizens in splits. Despite admitting his lack of skills in cricket, Abhishek is a big fan of the sport and India’s national team. The actor often appears for major matches featuring the team, as well as the IPL matches of his hometown’s franchise Mumbai Indians.

Abhishek Bachchan has also starred in a film, Ghoomer, where cricket is a major part of the plot. The 2023 film stars him as a failed cricket player who becomes a coach and trains specially-abled youngsters to play the sport.

Abhishek has been having a very busy year, with back-to-back releases such as Be Happy, Housefull 5, and Kaalidhar Laapata. He is reportedly part of the cast for Shah Rukh Khan-Siddharth Anand’s King. His upcoming films also include Raja Shivaji.
