Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor opened up recently about the misuse of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to create morphed images and expressed their concern over the matter, batting for stricter laws. At the trailer launch of their upcoming film, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, the two were asked to share their thoughts on the case filed by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in court to safeguard her personality rights and the larger discussion about AI. Varun pointed out the benefits of the technology while saying that it shouldn’t replace human talent. “If we don’t set boundaries today, we could reach a time when there will be no need for actors at all. Characters might just be created using AI. That’s why rules and laws are very important,” he said.

Janhvi added, “I’ve noticed how quickly things have changed in the last few months. Earlier, it took days to discuss looks or story ideas. Now with AI, teams can instantly create images or concepts. It definitely cuts costs and saves time. But I feel we must protect what only a human mind and heart can bring to art.”

However, Janhvi also spoke about its misuse and mentioned how her morphed images were being shared online. “This is where things get worrying. It’s not just about cost-cutting or creativity, it’s also about protecting our identity,” she said.

Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari also stars Sanya Malhotra Rohit Saraf, Maniesh Malhotra and Akshay Oberoi in pivotal roles. It marks the second collaboration between Varun and Janhvi, following their first film together, Bawaal, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, which released in 2023.

The film has been delayed twice before. First, it was scheduled to be released on April 18 which was pushed to September 12 later. It is now set to be released in theatres on October 2.
