The trailer of Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor’s upcoming romantic-comedy, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari was unveiled by the makers on Monday. Written and helmed by Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania director Shashank Khaitan, the film also stars Sanya Malhotra, Rohit Saraf, Akshay Oberoi and Maniesh Paul in pivotal roles.
The trailer opens with a Baahubali style sequence where Varun, dressed as Prabhas’ character, is seen proposing Ananya (Sanya). She says no and panic sets in. A huge statue falls on Varun as he is saved by his friend. On the other hand, Vikram (Rohit) says no to the proposal of Tulsi (Janhvi). Sunny and Tulsi team up to get back at Vikram and Ananya. At one point, Varun and Janhvi discuss who is more middle class between the two as they compare each other’s salaries. There is a lot of relationship confusion and drama that takes place. The film promises to be a family entertainer with quirky twists and turns and a lot of song and dance.
The film marks the second collaboration between Varun and Janhvi, following their first film together, Bawaal, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, which released in 2023.
Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari is produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Shashank Khaitan.
The film has been delayed twice before. First, it was scheduled to be released on April 18 which was pushed to September 12 later. It is now set to be released in theatres on October 2.
Janhvi was recently seen in another rom-com, Param Sundari, which was released in theatres on August 29. It starred Sidharth Malhotra in the lead. Varun's last film, Baby John, came out last year and turned out to be a major failure at the box office. The actor will also be seen next in Border 2, which also stars Sunny Deol and Diljit Dosanjh in pivotal roles. It is set to be released in theatres next year.
