Thamma box office: Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s horror-comedy, Thamma has earned Rs 24 crore at the box office on Day 1 as per inudstry tracker Sacnilk. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, the film also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Paresh Rawal and Sathyaraj in pivotal roles.

Thamma had an overall occupancy of 34.50 % on Tuesday with the morning shows amounting to 15.76%, evening shows getting 42.91 % and night shows amounting to 39.50%. The film had maximum shows in NCR region (1460) where it saw an occupancy of 36%. The Mumbai region had 1059 shows with an occupancy of 33% followed by Ahmedabad with 631 shows and 34% occupancy. In the Telugu language, Thamma saw an occupancy of just over 20.76%.

The film has fared way lesser than Maddock Horror Comedy Universe’s last release, Stree 2, which opened at a whopping Rs 51.8 crore last year. Ayushmann’s last release, Dream Girl 2 had earned Rs 10.69 crore on Day 1 in 2023. This year’s highest grossing film, Chhaava, opened at Rs 31 crore on Day 1 while the blockbuster romantic-drama, Saiyaara had earned Rs 21.5 crore on its first day.

Thamma is produced by Dinesh Vijan.

CE’s review of the film reads, “The real horror in Thamma is realising it’s still not over; the comedy meanwhile, dies long before the vampires do, staying buried under flat gags and dated jokes. To shake the monotony, Varun Dhawan makes a rather laughable entry late into the second half and the memory of the film being part of MHCU sprawls up. It is the weakest entry in the universe; a hollow spectacle that is all talk and no play. In a scene, when Alok gulps down that 3000-year-old blood and passes out, it feels strangely envious. At least he has the privilege of escaping the life-sucking doom that unfolds.”
