Ayushmann Khurrana and Nawazuddin Siddiqui's characters are set to lock horns with each other in the upcoming horror-comedy Thamma. In a recent interview with Just Too Filmy, Ayushmann revealed a piece of improvisation he did in the film, which the audience eagerly looks forward to. The actor shared that the first time his character encounters Nawazuddin's character in the film, he was in the mood to use an expletive. "That was the emotion. Toh maine Ben Stokes bol diya (Therefore, I said Ben Stokes)," Ayushmann said.
For the uninitiated, Ben Stokes is the name of England cricket team's all-rounder, who is also a two-time World Cup winner. In this context, it refers to an expletive, which became all the rage and associated with the England international after Virat Kohli started using it on the field.
Interestingly, Ayushmann revealed that his co-star did not understand the cricketing reason behind the reference. He said that Nawazuddin asked who Ben Stokes is at the time of shooting the scene.
Nawazuddin also addressed whether he laughs when Ayushmann does such improvisations. "I felt like laughing, but I had to stop," he revealed. The film stars Nawazuddin as a vetal, a type of creature from ancient folkore. The character transfers his powers to Ayushmann's protagonist after they come into contact with each other. The film, directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, also stars Rashmika Mandanna in a lead role. It is slated for an October 21 release, coinciding with Diwali.
