What’s streaming on Hindi OTT: From Hrithik Roshan-Jr NTR’s actioner to Konkona Sen Sharma’s murder-mystery

War 2 (Netflix, October 9): After its lukewarm run in theatres when it released on August 14 earlier this year, Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s actioner, War 2 is coming up on Hindi OTT this week. A sequel to War (2019) and taking place after the events of recent YRF Spy Universe films, Pathaan (2023) and Tiger 3 (2023), War 2 follows super agents, Kabir (Hrithik) and Vikram (NTR), who are at loggerheads with each other. The former is accused of betraying India and Vikram is tasked with hunting him down. Secrets are revealed and loyalties get sabotaged as the two clash with each other across continents in a high-stakes chase. The film also stars Kiara Advani in a pivotal role. It directed by Ayan Mukerji and written by Sridhar Raghavan and Abbas Tyrewala from a story by producer Aditya Chopra. Reportedly made on a whopping budget of over Rs 400 crore, War 2 struggled to work at the box office, minting just Rs 364 crore worldwide.

Search: The Naina Murder Case (JioHotstar, October 10) : Konkona Sen Sharma headlines this mystery-thriller series as she plays ACP Sanyukta Roy, who is pulled in to investigate a chilling murder of a teenager. Planning to change her department and shift cities in a bid to save her marriage, Sanyukta is forced to stay back to investigate the case due to its high-profile nature as a young politician seems to be linked to the murder. Partnered with an arrogant, young officer, Jay Kanwal (Surya Sharma), the two unravel dark secrets and buried emotional trauma behind the crime. Directed by Rohan Sippy, the show is an official adaptation of the Danish police procedural, The Killing (2007).

Kurukshetra (Netflix, October 10):  The epic battle of Mahabharata gets an animated re-telling in new Netflix series, Kurukshetra, named after the battlefield on which the war between the Pandavas and Kauravas was fought. The 18-episode show explores the inner conflicts, personal rivalries, and the heavy toll of India’s greatest dharmayuddh (war of righteousness) that turned family against family. From Arjuna’s agonizing dilemma to Draupadi’s fierce vow for justice; from Duryodhana’s insatiable thirst for power to Bhishma Pitamah’s solemn wisdom, the animated series captures the raw emotions and timeless dilemmas that have resonated across generations. Conceptualized and created by Anu Sikka, the series is written and directed by Ujaan Ganguly and brought to life by the team at Hitech Animation. It also features songs penned by Gulzar.

Jamnapaar Season 2 (Amazon MX Player, October 10): Ritvik Sahore returns as Shanky Bansal in the new season of this quirky show which also stars Varun Badola, Vijay Raaz, Ankita Sehgal, Shrishti Ganguly Rindani, Anubha Fatehpuria, Dhruv Sehgal and Inder Sahani in pivotal roles. This time around, Shanky loses his CA license, forcing him to take some morally questionable decisions, as his path crosses with a dreaded gangster, played by Vijay. Shanky returns not as the hopeful newcomer of Season 1, but as a young man wrestling with questions of identity, morality, and ambition. There is also a glimpse into the complex relationship that he shares with his father, played by Varun. The show is directed by Prashant Bhagia.
