Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari box office: Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor’s romantic-comedy, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari has earned Rs 9.25 crore at the box office on Day 1, as per industry tracker Sacnilk. Directed by Shashank Khaitan, the film also stars Rohit Saraf and Sanya Malhotra in pivotal roles.
The film had an overall 34.08% Hindi Occupancy on Thursday with morning shows accounting for 14.77 %, afternoon shows at 38.93% and evening and night shows bringing in 43.65% and 38.95% respectively. The film had most number of shows in the National Capital Region (NCR) (711) that generated an occupancy of 38%. Mumbai had 535 shows and saw an occupancy of 38.25%.
The romantic-comedy has fared slightly lesser than Varun’s last release, Baby John, which opened at Rs 11.25 crore while it raked it more than Janhvi’s last film, Param Sundari (Rs 7.25 crore). Varun and Shashank’s earlier collaborations, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014) had minted Rs 9.05 crore on Day 1 while Badrinath Ki Dulhania (2017) had opened at Rs 12.27 crore. Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari clashed at the box office with Rishab Shetty’s mythological-epic, Kantara: Chapter 1, which earned a whopping Rs 60 crore at the box office across languages.
Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari also stars Maniesh Paul and Akshay Oberoi in pivotal roles. It is produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta and Shashank Khaitan.
CE’s review of the film reads, “The film is another product from the Dharma bling factory whose packaging is flashier than its contents. Although, you do get everything you expect. Destination wedding vibes? Check. Old songs remixed solely to make them contemporary party anthems? Check. Wardrobe ideas for any incoming marriage functions? Check Check Check.”
