Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor’s upcoming romantic-drama, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari has received the U/A 13+ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The makers were, however, asked to do some minor changes and additions in the film.
As per a report in Bollywood Hungama, the CBFC muted the word ‘guard’ in a scene where Varun alludes to a cuss word, which was seen in the film’s trailer. Along with that, the makers have also been asked to cut down the kissing scenes in the film by over 60 percent. They were also asked to put up anti-alcohol static in some scenes.
After cuts and changes, the film’s runtime is 135.45 minutes or 2 hours, 15 minutes and 45 seconds.
Directed by Shashank Khaitan, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari also stars Sanya Malhotra, Rohit Saraf, Maniesh Paul and Akshay Oberoi in pivotal roles. Produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta and Shashank Khaitan, the film is all set for a worldwide theatrical release on Dussehra, October 2.
It will be clashing at the box office with Rishab Shetty’s much-awaited, Kantara: Chapter 1, which is releasing on the same day. Speaking about the clash earlier in an interview with PTI, Varun said, “Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra is a very big date, two films can really do big business, and they are very different films. I don't know what is the best time (to release a film), I would love to come on a date where no film comes on.”
He added, “Also, how much can you delay it? So, unless you are this very big film, which is made at a budget of Rs 200-300 crores, you can't. We can't dictate terms or we can't find any place. Whatever our distributors felt, Karan (Johar) sir felt, they chose that date. And as actors we are doing our best (to promote the film).”
