Rajinikanth took to X to bid farewell to his departed co-star Dharmendra. Just weeks before his 90th birthday, Dharmendra passed away in Mumbai.

Taking to his X handle, Rajinikanth wrote, "Farewell, my friend. I will always remember your golden heart and the moments we shared. Rest in peace, Dharam ji. My deepest condolences to his family."

Rajinikanth and Dharmendra have starred together in films like Insaaf Kaun Kharega (1984) and Farishtay (1991).

While promoting his film Yamla Pagla Deewana in Chennai, according to The Indian Express, Dharmendra said of Rajinikanth, "Rajini is like a younger brother. I had first met him and his wife Latha in Ooty, and from then, my love for him and his family has only grown."

Dharmendra, in 2021, shared a scene from Insaaf Kaun Kharega (1984) on X, and wrote, "Rajini a darling friend A great actor."

Dharmendra is survived by Prakash Kaur and Hema Malini, his first and second wives, Sunny and Bobby Deol, his sons, Esha and Ahaana Deol, and Ajeita and Vijeita, his daughters.
