Govinda issued a public apology after his wife Sunita Ahuja made some remarks about their family priest, Pandit Mukesh Sharma during a recent podcast interaction. Govinda condemned the comments made by Sunita and said that he doesn’t endorse them.

In a video statement, Govinda said, “Greetings to all, I am Govinda and I want to clarify that our family priest Pandit Mukesh Shukla is a very well-known and capable priest. He understands the Vedas and astrology. His father, Pandit Jatadhari, has also been an integral part of our family. Lately, my wife Sunita Ahuja made critical remarks against you. I apologise for the same and condemn it.”

He added, “I believe you are one of the simplest men on earth. I still remember how you stood by me during my difficult times. Because of your connections with several regional politicians, you have often helped ease my life. I request you to keep your blessings with us. Thank you.”

During her appearance on Paras Chhabra’s podcast, Sunita called Govinda’s priest “fake”. “He keeps suggesting new rituals and pujas and keeps charging money for them. I tell him so many times to do his own puja because his puja won’t help Govinda. I don’t believe in giving away Rs 2 or 10 lakh for so-called rituals,” Sunita said.

She added, “It’s better to wake up early, pray yourself, and do your own puja. How can someone else’s donation or hawan help you? I don’t even let others donate on my behalf. I do it myself. I don’t believe in ‘Give us Rs 2 lakh, do this hawan, and your family will be fine.’ Sab chor log hote hai (everyone is a thief).”

Sunita also commented about Govinda’s inner circle and said, “Govinda doesn’t have good people around him. He’s surrounded by fools who pretend to be writers and advisers. They don’t like me because I tell the truth. All these ‘chamchas’ (sycophants) keep talking against me to him.”
