Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri’s Dhadak 2 will be released on August 1, the makers announced on Monday. Directed by Shazia Iqbal, the film is a remake of the Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal (2018), directed by Mari Selvaraj. It is written by Shazia along with Rahul Badwelkar.

The makers shared two new posters from the film to make the announcement. In the first poster, Siddhant is seen hugging Triptii donning a firm look on his face. In the other poster, Triptii is seen tightly hugging Siddhant. Both posters have a blue tint to them. A Hindi text on the poster reads, “If there’s a choice between dying and fighting, then choose fighting.”

The film is a spiritual sequel to Dhadak (2018), which featured Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor and was a remake of Nagraj Manjule’s Marathi film Sairat (2016).

Dhadak 2 recently received U/A 16+ certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification after about 16 cuts, with caste slurs being muted and mention of ‘Savarna’ being removed.

The film was originally supposed to release in November 2024, but its release was later postponed to March, a date it also missed. It is produced by Karan Johar, Umesh Kumar Bansal, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Meenu Aroraa, Somen Mishra and Pragati Deshmukh.
