The teaser of Akshay Kumar’s historical-drama Kesari Chapter 2 was unveiled by the makers on Monday. Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, who has co-written it with Amritpal Singh Bindra, the film also stars R Madhavan and Ananya Panday in pivotal roles.
The teaser opens with a 30 seconds black screen as gunshots and screams are heard in the background that aim to portray the pain of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Then the visuals cut to Amritsar in the year 1919, when the massacre took place. The aftermath of the tragedy is shown with bodies lying in blood at the ground. Akshay is shown to be praying and walking in the chambers of the court. He plays Sir C Sankaran Nair, the lawyer who took on the British Empire in the wake of the national tragedy. The teaser also features a song with lyrics written by Irshad Kamil and music by Shashwat Sachdev.
The film is adapted from the book, 'The Case That Shook The Empire', written by Pushpa Palat and Raghu Palat. It is a spiritual successor to the 2019 film Kesari, which also starred Akshay in the lead and told the story of the Battle of Saragarhi where 21 Sikh soldiers fought against an army of 10,000 troops.
Produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Aruna Bhatia, Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Amritpal Singh Bindra & Anand Tiwari, Kesari Chapter 2 will be released in theatres on April 18.
