The Diplomat Box-office: John Abraham’s political-thriller earns Rs 4 crore on Day 1

John Abraham’s political-thriller The Diplomat has earned Rs 4 crore at the box-office on Day 1, as per industry tracker Sacnilk. Written by Ritesh Shah and directed by Shivam Nair, the film also stars Sadia Khateeb, Prapti Shukla, Jagjeet Sandhu, Ashwath Bhatt, Sharib Hashmi, Kumud Mishra, Ram Gopal Bajaj, and Benjamin Gilani in pivotal roles.

The Diplomat had an overall 20.45% Hindi Occupancy on Friday with morning shows amounting to 7.31%. The film picked up from afternoon, and saw highest occupancy in the night shows of 26.56%. The film’s worldwide collection stands at Rs 6 crore.

In the film, John plays the role of real-life Indian diplomat J.P. Singh, who is on a mission to rescue Uzma Ahmed (Sadia), an Indian citizen from an abusive marriage in Pakistan. 

The film’s music is composed by Manan Bhardwaj and it features lyrics by Manoj Muntashir. It is produced by Bhushan Kumar, John Abraham, Krishan Kumar, Vipul D Shah, Ashwin Varde, Rajesh Bahl, Sameer Dixit, Jatish Varma and Rakesh Dang.
