Bengali actor Jisshu Sengupta joins cast of Akshay Kumar’s Bhooth Bangla

Directed by Priyadarshan, the horror-comedy also stars Tabu, Paresh Rawal, Mithila Palkar, and Wamiqa Gabbi

Bengali actor Jisshu Sengupta has joined the cast of Akshay Kumar’s Bhooth Bangla, the makers announced on the actor’s birthday on Saturday. Directed by Priyadarshan, the horror-comedy also stars Tabu, Paresh Rawal, Mithila Palkar, and Wamiqa Gabbi

Sharing a photo of Jisshu, the makers wrote, “Wishing the brilliant Jisshu Sengupta a very Happy Birthday! Excited to see him bring his magic to Bhooth Bangla, it's going to be a wild ride.” Jisshu is known for acting in Hindi films like Barfi!, Manikarnika, Piku and Mardaani 2 among others.

Bhooth Bangla marks Akshay’s seventh collaboration with Priyadarshan. The actor-director have previously worked on acclaimed comedies like Garam Masala (2005), Bhagam Bhag (2006), Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007), De Dana Dan (2009) and Khatta Meetha (2010).

The film has been produced by Ektaa R Kapoor’s Balaji Motion Pictures, Akshay’s Cape Of Good Films and co-produced by Faara Sheikh and Vedant Baali. It is scheduled to release in theatres on April 2, 2026.
