Randeep Hooda opened up recently about the character he plays in his upcoming film Jaat and called it his ‘darkest’ role yet. He plays the villain, Ranatunga, in the actioner, which stars Sunny Deol in the lead and has been helmed by Gopichand Malineni.

Speaking about his role, Randeep shared, "I have played dark and layered characters before, but Ranatunga is pure evil. He’s violent, unhinged, and operates with a kind of brutality that even shocked me while performing it. Jaat is a film that dives into a world of raw, unapologetic crime, and my character sits at the centre of that storm. I think our director, Gopichand Malineni, was so very clear about how he envisioned this character, and I completely took on what he had imagined for this role”.

The makers had earlier released a teaser, introducing his character in the film. Randeep looks menacing sporting long, greasy locks. He says, “I love my name,” and then proceeds to tell it with terror: “Ranatunga.”

Jaat also stars Vineet Kumar Singh, Regina Cassandra, Saiyami Kher, and Swarupa Ghosh in pivotal roles. The music for the film has been given by Thaman S.

The film is being produced jointly by two prominent production houses in Telugu—Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar of Mythri Movie Makers and TG Vishwa Prasad of People Media Factory. The two production houses and the director are making their Bollywood debut with the project.

Jaat will be released in theatres on April 10.
