Ahead of International Women’s Day on March 8, the three-day Asian Women Film Festival (AWFF) 2025 will be organized in Delhi from March 6. Celebrating its 20th year, AWFF 2025 is curated by festival director and acclaimed film editor Bina Paul. It will take place at the India International Centre in Delhi.  

The lineup of guests for this year’s edition includes filmmaker Payal Kapadia, Aparna Purohit, CEO of Aamir Khan Productions, renowned Japanese cinematographer Akiko Ashizawa and Seoul International Women’s Film Festival curator, Hwang Hae Rim.

The diverse lineup of the festival features movies from China, Myanmar, Philippines and Qatar. The Sharp Edge of Peace (2024) by exiled Afghan filmmaker Roya Sadat, will be the opening film followed by a discussion with producer Alka Sadat. The festival will also screen Payal’s award-winning documentary A Night of Knowing Nothing (2021) and a selection of Iranian shorts under ‘The Unsettled Reality, Tomorrow’s Imagination’ section. 

The festival aims to provide support and exposure to women filmmakers, who face challenges in accessing resources, distributors and sales agents. The programmes for this year are backed by Delhi Tourism, the British Council, the Japan Foundation, and the French Institute in India.
