Actor Bobby Deol, whose career got its second innings after performances in films and series like Class of ’83 (2020), Aashram (2020-25) and Animal (2023), recently spoke in an interview about his struggles.

Bobby was an instant hit in the 90s and early 2000s and gave blockbusters like Gupt: The Hidden Truth (1997), Soldier (1998), and Ajnabee (2001), but his career fizzled out in the mid-2000s.

“It was different when I started out, as people would offer me work by themselves. Then the population of actors increased; it’s sad that we forget that there are so many people coming in and will continue to,” the actor said in an interview with India Today.

Bobby said that he had done many roles earlier that he did not like and that there should be no shame in asking for work. “I have knocked on doors and told them I am Bobby Deol, and please give me work. I don’t think there is anything wrong with that, as you need work. At least they will remember that Bobby Deol had come to meet me. This also gets translated to work sometimes. So, there is nothing to be ashamed of.”

“You won’t get things by not trying. And with hard work, even if it seems far, you would be getting closer to your goal. Desperation does bring negativity, but you go through that and come out. There is no one to help you swim through it. When you realise that, the journey becomes easier,” he added.

Bobby was recently seen in the Tamil film Kanguva (2024). He is gearing up for his next Telugu film, Hari Hara Veera Mallu: Part 1 – Sword vs Spirit, in which he is playing the role of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. He will also be part of the YRF Spy Universe film Alpha, alongside Alia Bhatt and Sharvari.
