TV actor Shefali Jariwala, who passed away on Friday night due to cardiac arrest, shot to fame with the song, ‘Kaanta Laga’, which was noted for its sensual moves. The song’s bold visuals had everyone surprised, including Salman Khan, who spoke to the makers about it.

In a conversation with Hindi Rush earlier, the directors of the music video, Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, recalled what Salman told them about it, “Main tumhe samjha raha hoon, yeh sexy kaam kam karo, achha nahi hota (I am telling you—cut down on this sexy stuff, it doesn't reflect good). You have such pure minds, don’t waste them on this stuff.”

Another old video resurfaced online after the death of Shefali where she is asked about being called the ‘Kaanta Laga girl’ and if she ever gets tired of it. “Sawal hi nahi hai (No question). There can only be one ‘Kaanta Laga’ girl in the world, and that is me. I love it and I want to be known as the ‘Kaanta Laga’ girl till the day I die.”

The song was a remix version of the original one sung by Lata Mangeshkar from the film, Samadhi (1972). When it released in 2002, the music video caused a backlash for its bold visuals and the makers were called in by the censor board, accusing them of shaking the “moral fabric” of the country.

Interestingly, Shefali later appeared on Bigg Boss 13 hosted by Salman.
