Anurag Kashyap's Monkey in a Cage featuring Bobby Deol to premiere at TIFF 2025

Along with Anurag Kashyap’s film, a restored version of Sholay and Neeraj Ghaywan’s Homebound will also be screened at the festival

Anurag Kashyap’s upcoming film, Monkey in a Cage (titled Bandar in Hindi) featuring Bobby Deol will be premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival 2025. It will mark the film’s world premiere. Along with it, a restored version of the iconic Sholay (1975) and Neeraj Ghaywan’s Homebound will also be screened at the festival.

A poster of Anurag’s film was shared on TIFF's website which featured Bobby wearing glasses. A text on the poster read: The story that should not have been told. The film is inspired by true events and has been written by Paatal Lok creator Sudip Sharma and Abhishek Banerjee.

Bobby also took to social media to share a still from the film to make the announcement. It features him sitting around a bunch of sleeping men. He wrote in caption, "The Story that should not have been told...
But is the Official Selection at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival 2025. Our Film inspired from True Events is Premiering at TIFF 50."

Meanwhile, Sholay was also shown earlier at the prestigious Il Cinema Ritrovato Festival in Bologna, Italy commemorating the film's 50th anniversary.

Neeraj’s Homebound, starring Ishaan Khatter, Janhvi Kapoor and Vishal Jethwa had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year. It will have its North American premiere at TIFF. The film is backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions
