Maalik box office collection Day 5: Rajkummar Rao’s massy actioner Maalik has managed to earn just over Rs 2 crore on Day 5, as per Sacnilk, taking its five-day collection to Rs 18 crore. Directed by Pulkit, the film also stars Manushi Chhillar, Saurabh Shukla, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Saurabh Sachdeva and Swanand Kirkire in pivotal roles.

Maalik opened at the box office at a slow rate, earning just Rs 3.75 crore on Day 1. The collections improved just a bit over the weekend, as it made Rs 5.25 crore on Saturday and Sunday. It further dipped on Monday, minting Rs 1.75 crore. The film has earned much lower than Rajkummar's earlier theatrical release, Bhool Chuk Maaf, which earned Rs 37.25 crore in five days.

The actioner was released along with Vikrant Massey and Shanaya Kapoor’s romantic-drama Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan which earned a miniscule amount of Rs 35 lakhs on Day 1 and has struggled to get numbers since then.

In Maalik, Rajkummar plays a dreaded gangster in 1990 Allahabad as he deals with his rivals and fights with a new encounter cop (Prosenjit) who has been called in to kill him. It is produced by Kumar Taurani under the Tips Films banner, along with Jay Shewakramani of Northern Lights Films.

CE’s review of the film reads, “There is little novelty in Maalik. It's just Rajkummar whacking bones and breaking bad. Writer-director Pulkit does the bare minimum in mounting the film. He merely builds on the structure that was already laid by the likes of Mirzapur (2018). If Maalik was a colouring book, Pulkit traces what’s already been drawn.”
