Earlier this Monday, War 2 star Jr NTR took to X to announce that production on his upcoming film with Hrithik Roshan has been completed. The film, directed by Ayan Mukerji, stars Jr NTR as the antagonist and Hrithik as the protagonist. Ayan has been touting it as a showdown between two of Indian cinema's biggest stars. Jr NTR described his on-set collaboration with Hrithik as a "blast" and praised the latter's energy. He also said that he learnt a lot from Hrithik "on this journey of War 2". Calling Ayan an "amazing" director, the RRR star said that the filmmaker "has truly set the stage for a big surprise package for the audience."

Speaking of which, much like some of its earlier projects, YRF is set to keep the film's lead actors away from its promotions to keep the surprise element, which will come with seeing their characters face off. War 2 marks the sixth instalment in the YRF Spy Universe franchise. It also stars Kiara Advani in an important role.

War 2 is produced by Yash Raj Films' Aditya Chopra, who has also penned the film's story. Shridhar Raghavan has written its screenplay. On the technical front, the film has cinematographer Benjamin Jasper, composer Pritam, and editor Aarif Sheikh. Jasper also shared a note of gratitude on the completion of filming where he revealed that he got an Emmy award nomination and ACS accreditation during the film's production. With 2019's War, Jasper became the first Director of Photography to shoot a film in the Arctic Circle.

War 2 is slated for an August 14 release in theatres worldwide. Also releasing on the same date is Coolie, starring Rajinikanth and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.
