After playing a lover-boy in Nadaaniyan, Ibrahim Ali Khan will be essaying an intense role in the upcoming drama-thriller Sarzameen. The film, whose trailer was unveiled by the makers on Friday, also stars Prithviraj Sukumaran and Kajol.

The film, as per the trailer, seems to be a cross between 2000s Mission Kashmir and Animal (2023). Prithviraj plays an Army officer stationed in Kashmir. He has a tumultuous relationship with his son Harman (Ibrahim). Visuals suggest that Harman has joined a terrorist organisation and soon father and son are pitted against each other. Kajol plays Prithviraj’s wife in the film who is squeezed between love for her son and duty towards her husband. Interestingly, Kajol was part of Fanaa (2006) where she falls in love with a Kashmiri terrorist.

Sarzameen marks the directorial debut of Boman Irani’s son Kayoze Irani. It has been produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, and Apoorva Mehta under Dharma Productions along with Star Studios. It will have a direct-to-digital release and will start streaming on JioHotstar from July 25.
