Deepika Padukone reacted sharply to L&T chairman S.N. Subramanyam’s comments of making employees work on Sundays and said that it is shocking.

During an online Q&A session, Subramanyam expressed his regret for not being able to make employees work on Sundays, as reported by journalist Faye D’Souza on Instagram. Sharing the post on her stories, Deepika wrote, “Shocking to see people in such senior positions make such statements. #MentalHealthMatters.”

The chairman’s comments ignited a wave of criticism all over social media, after which the MNC came up with another statement, which explained the comments made by him. Deepika re-shared it on her stories and wrote, “And they just made it worse.”

In his viral video clip on Reddit, Subramanyam says, “I regret I am not able to make you work on Sundays. If I can make you work on Sundays, I will be more happy, because I work on Sundays. What do you do sitting at home? How long can you stare at your wife? How long can the wives stare at their husbands? Come on, get to the office and start working."

Deepika has been vocal about mental health ever since she spoke about battling depression in public in 2015.

On the work front, she was last seen in the sci-fi-thriller Kalki 2898 AD and had a special appearance in Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again.
