The trailer of Akshay Kumar headliner aerial-actioner Sky Force was unveiled by the makers on Sunday. Directed by Sandeep Kewlani and Abhishek Kapoor, the film marks the debut of Veer Pahariya and also stars Sara Ali Khan and Nimrat Kaur in pivotal roles.

Sky Force is based on India's retaliatory attack on Pakistan's Sargodha airbase during the 1965 Indo-Pakistani air war, which was described as India's first and deadliest airstrike.

The trailer begins with a real-life voiceover by the 1965 Pakistan President Mohd. Ayub Khan threatening India. We then see Akshay and Veer’s characters, both Airforce officers, running for their lives as Pakistani fighter jets bomb their base. Akshay vows to give it back to the Pakis. Yet again, there is a mention of ‘ghar mein ghus ke maarenge’ (We’ll invade and kill). Akshay also does away with Gandhi and says ‘Doosra gaal neta dikhate hai, hum fauji nahi’ (Ministers turn the other cheek, not soldiers).

Veer is introduced as a Maverick-type character, a rebel who breaks the rules. Akshay and Veer team up and attack Pakistan, but during the mission, Veer goes MIA. Now it is up to Akshay to bring his partner back home. In a scene in the trailer, Veer’s character is being described as rebellious and mad, Akshay, however, backs him and says “for this madness a soldier puts his life at risk for the nation. This madness is what we call patriotism.” Sara plays the role of Veer’s character’s wife, while seems like Nimrat is in the role of Akshay’s love-interest.

The film has been produced by Maddock Films’ Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik, and Jyoti Deshpande from Jio Studios. It releases in theatres two days before Republic Day on January 24.
