Kangana Ranaut and Javed Akhtar have put an end to their longstanding legal battle. Kangana took to her Instagram stories to post a picture with Akhtar, making the announcement. The veteran lyricist and screenwriter had filed a defamation suit against the actor in 2020 when she made some claims about him during an interview.
Sharing the photo, Kangana wrote, “Today Javed ji and I have resolved our legal matter (defamation case) through mediation, in the mediation Javed ji has been very kind and gracious, he also ' agreed to write songs for my next directorial.”
The legal battle started when Kangana in an interview to a news channel after the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput claimed that Javed had asked her to issue an apology to Hrithik Roshan over their public spat in 2016. Kangana said in the interview, “Once Javed Akhtar called me to his house and told me Rakesh Roshan (father of Hrithik Roshan) and his family are very big people. If you don't apologise to them, you will have nowhere to go. They will put you in jail, and eventually, the only path would be that of destruction, you will commit suicide. These were his words. He shouted and yelled at me. I was shaking in his house.”
Javed had filed a defamation case against her, calling her statement in the interview as a lie. In 2021, Kangana had filed a counter-complaint against Javed, alleging criminal intimidation and insult to modesty.
