The trailer of John Abraham’s The Diplomat was unveiled by the makers on Friday. Helmed by Naam Shabana director Shivam Nair and written by Ritesh Shah (Emergency, Sardar Udham Singh), the film also stars Sadia Khateeb, Sharab Hashmi, Kumud Mishra and Revathy in pivotal roles.

The trailer introduces John playing the role of real-life Indian diplomat J.P. Singh, who is on a mission to rescue Uzma Ahmed (Sadia), an Indian citizen from an abusive marriage in Pakistan. John’s character is introduced to be a master negotiator, for whom dialogue is the weapon. Sharib plays his subordinate while Kumud is a lawyer. Revathy plays the role of former Minister of External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj, who was involved in bringing back Uzma to India. The trailer features a version of A.R. Rahman’s song ‘Bharat Hamko Jaan Se Pyara Hai’ from Roja.

Speaking about the film, John Abraham shared, “Diplomacy is a battlefield where words carry more weight than weapons. Playing J.P. Singh allowed me to explore a world where power is defined by intellect, resilience, and quiet heroism. Uzma’s story is a testament to India’s strength and courage, and I am proud to bring this inspiring journey to life on screen.”

Shivam added, “The Diplomat is a tribute to the unsung heroes who wield strategy and patience to protect their nation. Through J.P. Singh’s story, we’ve captured the art of diplomacy—where tact triumphs over aggression—and John’s performance perfectly embodies this spirit of resilience and strength.”

The film’s music is composed by Manan Bhardwaj with lyrics by Manoj Muntashir. It is produced by Bhushan Kumar, John Abraham, Krishan Kumar, Vipul D Shah, Ashwin Varde, Rajesh Bahl, Sameer Dixit, Jatish Varma and Rakesh Dang and will be released in theatres on March 7.
