The trailer of the Radhika Apte headliner dark-comedy Sister Midnight was unveiled by the makers on Thursday. The film, directed by Karan Kandhari, features Radhika as Uma, a newly-married woman who, ill-adjusted to the homemaker life, starts losing her mind and discovers her feral side.

The film also features Ashok Pathak as Uma’s husband Gopal. Chhaya Kadam and Smita Tambe are also part of the cast.

The trailer opens with Uma, with a bandaged nose, sitting in a train. A woman sitting opposite asks “What happened to your face?” to which she gives a strange reply: “Got a new one.” Uma and Gopal recently got married and she is trying to adjust to life in a Mumbai chawl. The trailer has an offbeat tone to it.

Sister Midnight premiered at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival in the Director’s Fortnight section. It was also nominated at the 78th BAFTA Awards for for Outstanding Debut by a British writer, director or producer.

The film is slated to release in the US by Magnolia Pictures in May.
