The second trailer for Reema Kagti’s Superboys of Malegaon was unveiled by the makers on Wednesday. The film is written by Varun Grover and stars Adarsh Gourav, Vineet Kumar Singh and Shashank Arora in the lead along with Anuj Singh Duhan, Saqib Ayub, Pallav Singgh, Manjiri Pupala, and Muskkaan Jaferi.
The film is based on the life of independent filmmaker from Malegaon, Maharashtra, Nasir Sheikh, who made his own local, low-budget versions of Bollywood blockbusters. Adarsh plays Nasir and is seen fighting against odds to make his first film. He is joined by his friends, played by Vineet and Shashank. One of the films they are seen making in the trailer is Malegaon Ki Sholay. The trailer features some some power packed dialogues by Varun which create a strong impact.
Speaking about the film, Reema said in a statement, "Superboys of Malegaon is a story about power of the underdog and the magic of cinema. The film is not just about the origins of Malegaon filmmaking; it’s about the dreams, the young filmmakers and their town built along the way. We are excited to bring this unique story to the big screen, one that is inspired by the incredible journey of people who created magic with limited resources, but endless dreams and determination.”
Superboys of Malegaon had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and was screened at the 68th BFI London Film Festival and Red Sea International Film Festival.
The film is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti with Kassim Jagmagia, Vishal Ramchandani and Angad Dev Singh serving as co-producers.
It will be released in theatres on February 28.
