Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has made a big revelation about the impact of the star culture in the Indian film industry. Speaking on a recent Galatta Plus roundtable, the filmmaker said that he has seen some directors who spend four years waiting for major stars to come onboard and wanting to make big films. He argued that those filmmakers would not work on their story in the meantime. "They have got an idea and they want to make a big film," the Black Friday director said. According to Anurag, such a long-drawn process means the filmmaker not being engaged with his project on a continuous basis and is just waiting for a big star.
While Anurag Kashyap did not take any names while making the aforementioned comment, this is not the first time he has said something like this. Recently, he said that Basil Joseph spent two years of his career in pursuit of a Shaktimaan film adaptation. Earlier, Sony Pictures India, Basil and Ranveer Singh were linked to the project. However, Shaktimaan star Mukesh Khanna's opposition and other production issues meant that the project hit a major roadblock, with no major update coming from the makers in the recent past. Effectively, the project apparently did not materialise.
