Anupam Kher recently had an unexpected reunion with Kareena Kapoor Khan while flying to Delhi, a moment that took him back 25 years to their very first interaction. The veteran actor posted a set of photos from the flight on social media, along with a nostalgic note reflecting on how far the actor has come since her debut.

Kher wrote that he first met Kareena in 2000 on the sets of JP Dutta’s Refugee, where she was filming her very first movie. He remembered her as “stunningly beautiful, confident yet vulnerable, restless to make it big” and said she stood out for being “amazingly real as a person”. Watching her transformation over the years, he said, has been a joy: “I have watched her grow into a very fine and elegant actress.”

The actor added that their in-flight conversation reminded him of the same spark Kareena had when she started out. “Twenty-five years later, I was delightfully happy to find that she is hungry for great roles, remains a beautiful person who still is real and loves conversations,” he wrote. Expressing his affection and admiration, he thanked her for her warmth and joked, “Yes! I do look the same in all these years.” Kher ended his note with a heartfelt message wishing happiness and health to Kareena and her family.

On the professional front, Kher recently completed his second directorial venture, Tanvi The Great, starring newcomer Shubhangi Dutt. As an actor, he had Hari Hara Veera Mallu and Calorie this year and is currently working on The India House and reportedly also on the sequel of Khosla Ka Ghosla.

Kareena, meanwhile, is gearing up for Meghna Gulzar’s Daayra, a film the National Award-winning director describes as one that will encourage audiences to examine society and its systems more closely.
